After some considerable time there (seemed like forever) to Dett (Dete), transferred to Wankie (Hwange) and then discharged. After regular service joined Police Reserve, (27032) until discharged after Zimbabwe Independence. Left Zimbabwe for health reasons (really - I had larynx problems) in 1986 to the United Kingdom and set up residence in Berkshire. Met and married my wife there, moved to Papua New Guinea and then to Singapore, back to the United Kingdom then next to Disneyland in Tokyo. I joined the Force as a Cadet in January 1971 (C706), wnet into Depot and was in 1972 Display Squad. Stationed as a Cadet at Bulawayo Central Enquiries, Hillside and CPU. As a Regular was stationed at Gwelo Central, Selukwe, Mount Darwin, Centenary, Gutza, Op Hurrican Ground Coverage, Support Unit "Oscar Troop" where I was wounded in action in 1976, Marlborough, Bulawayo Traffic, Traffic West, Salisbury Information Room and finally Officer-in-Charge Hatfield Police Station.
On leaving the force, I got involved in Private Security in Johannesburg with a mining group ending up as Operations Director (Security) for the Group. 1989 moved to Cape Town and started up own Security Companies, which I sold to ADT Security in 2005 and moved to Sydney and started up a Transport Company. After passing out of Morris Depot,I was posted firstly to Umtali Urban and then to Umtali District (Sakubva and Chiksamba). I had undergone jungle warfare training with 7/7th Ghurkas on Blankang Mati (now Sentosa), which is a small island near Singapore. This stood me in good stead for bush survival in PATU, to which I devoted my life for the final four years of my service. I was shot in the face while on patrol in Espungabera on the P.E.A border. Moved to RSA shortly after completing my service - and to the United Kingdom in 1990. Would welcome anybody who knew me.
