I initially signed on for NS in January 75 with postings to SGU, Harare and Waterfalls then left the force once completing my year,afterwhich I decided to re-enlisted as a regular in July 76 after a couple of monthes of continious call up in Chirundu which was a lot of fun. From July 76 through July 78 I spent 2 great years in Salisbury Central Control Room 2 relief.Since then I have been living in the States. 1978-1990 in Houston Tx. and since then in Knoxville. Tn. where I am the Head Diving Coach at the University of Tennessee.I travel both the USA and world extensively and visit Zimb every couple of years. During my last visit in May 2001 I had the privilege of going by depot to see the BSAP museum which brought back many great memories.

After National Service in the Rhodesian army joined the Force in May 1976 with squad 5/76 an equitation squad. Served at Centenary (which included Mzarabani) for just over 3 years and Banket (with short periods as acting MIC at Umvukwes and Wedza) before leaving the Force in January 1981. I moved to the UK in February, 1982 and joined the Devon and Cornwall Police where I served for 30 years, retiring as a Sergeant. Still continuing my long association with policing as now employed in a civilian role with Devon and Cornwall Police in Cornwall.

Born in Salisbury Rhodesia in 1935. Secondary School was Prince Edward School Salisbury. After School I joined the family Business E. T. Potter (Pvt) Ltd in First Street. In 1952 Joined the Rhodesia Broadcasting Corporation in 1968 initially on Radio Jacaranda and then the General Service where I eventually took over the early morning show hosted by Leslie Sullivan until 1980. I then continued on the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation until 2001. I was in the Royal Rhodesia Artillery as a Gunner from 1953 and when disbanded was transferred to the 1st Battalion of The Royal Rhodesia Regiment as a Rifleman. I was then tasked with the formation of the Royal Rhodesia Regiment Silver Band where I attained the rank of Band Sergeant. I then joined the BSAP Reserve in 1966 serving with the Reconnaissance Unit and when that was disbanded transferred to Striker Forces when ‘D; Force was formed. Then in 1970 PATU until 1980. I was awarded the General Service Medal and the Police Reserve Long Service Medal circa 197

Joined Nov 1961 and served a a cadet for 23 months in Mashonaland Records, Urban Records - with Const Hamley, then was the envy of the Cadets working with the WP.s in enquiry section, then Traffic (learned what life was all about under Neville (evil) Eva ) then S'Land, Salisbury Park then Mabelreign (one sugar for the pot ) then lived in Depot for a while after turning 18 working at PGHQ (records) waiting with 7027 Keith Rae for a recruit squad to be formed then for the second time had Barry Naylon as instructor ( I was the recruit who caused the DCI to charge into that Hawthorne Bush on that big grey of his and lived to tell the tale ) on finally getting out of Depot was-posted to Matabeleland and to District Police at Tjolotjo, Essexvale then to Chirundu and then finally managed to make it back to Salisbury and Hatfield. On leaving in Nov 1968 went to London (Eng) and worked at Kings Investigation Bureau in Chancery Lane for three years then immigrated to Sydney Australia. Married with three children and have built up a Company known as Coolpak manufacturing and marketing Popcorn Products in the Eastern States. Happy and keen to hear from any Ex BSAP.

Helped out as typing instructor in depot for a few months, CID homicide for 6 months and back to traffic enforcements. Married a South African, Shaun, and have two wonderful sons, Matthew (19) and Christopher (17). Been working at Mayo Clinic for 18 years now as a medical typist. Would love to hear from old friends.
