Lost Comrades List Gets Longer
The Web Administrator's seasonal message each year seems to bring out a longer list of former members' e-mail addresses 'bouncing' and being listed on the Lost and Found Pages of the site each year. I would be grateful if visitors to the site could pop into the link provided above and go through the listings. Principally, we are looking for e-mail address, rather than telephone numbers, but if you know someone who is listed as lost or sought, please contact them and ask them to update their details - using this Registration Form. Please note that mail bounces during the festive season due to mail boxes being filled may be a cause - just notify me if this is the case.

A seasonal Message from the Web Administrator: December 2011
Each year I write a personalised message to all members on the regimental database, basically to wish them well during the festive season. This year is no exception and that message can bee seen via this link. Sadly, each year many unexpected mail bounces occur, and again, this year is no exception. Please make sure your details are up to date and that you keep within the fold. You may register here.

Death: Alexandra Joy Earwood ‘Alex’ WP517
Dick Glanville reports with profound sadness the tragic murder of Alex Earwood, in her home, in Blairgowrie, Johannesburg, South Africa on 20 December 2011. Alex joined the BSA Police in February 1979 and served until January 1983, leaving at her own request with the rank of Women Patrol Officer. Fred Punter sent in the image below which is a portion of the Rhodesian crowd which attended the Remembrance Day Parade during September 2011 in Bedford. The parade was notably dominated by former members of the Rhodesian Light Infantry, who happen to have their museum in the city.

Julian Pellatt writes in and tells of a poem that he wrote about the war, in 1974, as a young 18-year old NSPO on his first PATU stint at the 'Sharo End' in Kandeya TTL.  In November this year that poem was published in a new anthology of southern African poetry: The Ground's Ear: Contemporary Verse From Southern Africa (Quickfox Publishing, Cape Town).  There is a copy of that poem for download, in case it may be of any interest. Well done Julian.

BSA Police Trooper 1940
I was browsing through a couple of old Outposts the other day and came across an image of a trooper circa 1940 in the December 1940 edition. This image was reproduced in the magazine from the original watercolour presented to the BSA Police by the United Tobacco Company (South) Limited. Many of you visiting these pages will know that this was the subject of a series of cigarette cards, collected by enthusiasts back in the 1940s.

Brian Taylor (5507) very kindly let me have his framed series of three cards, when he left Zimbabwe, of which the BSA Police Trooper was one.
