Former Members of the BSA Police: Whereabouts Now
The Web Administrator has recently analysed the nominal roll
maintained by him and produced an analysis of where former
members of the force are presently resident, according to
their submissions via this website. You may view a few statistics
or a histogram
on this site. Clearly, these two documents do not indicate
where all former members, who are still alive,
are resident. There are a huge number of former members who
have not become involved with Regimental Association membership
or who are not on e-mail or browsing the web. Those with such
status should be encouraged to register
on the site... we want to know where you are
and involve you with your former colleagues.

Death:
Anthony Howard ‘Parrot’ Neill 6749/7014/8330
Neville Spurr advises, with regret, the death of Howard Neil
on 18 March 2011 at Cape Town, South Africa. He was born 1
August 1943 and attended St Georges College in Salisbury,
Southern Rhodesia. Howard was one of the few officers to sport
three force numbers. He first joined the BSA Police in September
1962, leaving a little earlier than his three, by purchase,
but rejoined in May 1964. He served until November 1968 and
then re-joined the force a third time in October 1969 and
served until June 1976, leaving at his own request, with the
rank of Inspector. He was stationed in the town branch, mostly
in Bulawayo, and also served with Support Unit and at Police
Driving School, Cranborne, before joining Staff Branch and
doing time at Ordnance in Salisbury. After leaving the force,
Howard eventually settled in Cape Town and was a supportive
member of the Western Cape Branch of the Regimental Association.
Our thoughts and condolences go out to his wife, Sam, family
and friends, to whom we extend our deepest sympathy.
