Magazines and Regimental Records of the BSAP

£35.00

Product Description

The U.K. Branch has been engaged since 2006 in a project to digitise the magazines and regimental records of the BSAP. This set of CDs contains a LIBRARY of FULLY  SEARCHABLE .pdf files of ALL OUTPOSTS from 1923 to 1980 and the forerunner to Outpost, Police Review, which was published from 1911-1914. These magazines provide a complete and invaluable archive of the conditions in which they lived and achievements of all those who served in the BSAP. It is as much a memorial to them as is the physical memorial at The National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire England.

In addition to the magazines there are medal rolls and nominal rolls of BSAP male and female pre and post 1903, Police Reserve Air Wing, SRWAPS, subject and obituary indexes. Disc 2 contains an audio file of a 1956 radio interview with Maj. R. Nesbitt VC for gallantry in the action at Alice Mine in 1896.

"The Outpost archive that has been published by the British South Africa Police Regimental Association (U.K. Branch) must be one of the most complete archives published by any Regiment or Regimental Association in the U.K.. Certainly I know of no published material to compete with the goldmine of material for genealogists who wish to research family members who served in it or medal collectors who want to find out about "the man behind the medal". The BSAP Regimental Association should be congratulated on taking such a proactive approach to preserving its history for future generations. Others should take note and follows its fine example." Paul Brewster, historian and member of the Orders and Medals Research Society.
