Rhodesia Served the Queen (Vol. I & II)

This comprehensive and interestingly composed history focuses on Rhodesia’s part in the Boer War and events leading up to it. Taken from personal research and investigation with visits to many of the sites and discussions with individuals, the author has presented his work in a non-textbook readable style, going into much detail about major through to minor almost previously unheard of incidents, clashes, and actions, including names of not just senior officers but down to the other ranks who do not often rate a mention in broader histories. Numerous references to BSAP involvement appear as would be expected from Hickman. He quotes liberally from personal correspondence between military personnel and their families/friends, gives many potted biographies, supported by maps, photos (including some ‘then and now’), and sketches.
